Ada sits in south-central Oklahoma, the capital of the Chickasaw Nation and home to East Central University, a college and tribal-government town whose economy blends the Chickasaw Nation's substantial tribal enterprises (including one of the region's larger casino and hospitality operations), oil and gas activity in the surrounding Arbuckle-Simpson aquifer region, and the university itself.
